Ship Building

Our experienced and highly knowledgeable technical team of naval architects, marine engineers, electrical engineers and marine design draftsmen provide the expertise to deliver the most complex of shipbuilding projects from concept design to completion.

Ship Repair

Our combination of facilities, capabilities, project managers and engineers mean we are available to complete repairs to the full range of vessels - including ferries, tankers, offshore support vessels, dredgers, cargo vessels, jack ups and cruise ships.

High-End Fabrication

Whether it’s delivering a large-scale multi-site fabrication or a more localised project, Cammell Ships’s highly skilled workforce and management team delivers quality workmanship to the highest tolerances and meets client objectives on time and to schedule, each and every time.

Conversion

Cammell Ships’s facilities are ideally suited for conversion projects, with large sized drydocks, crane capacities and extensive onsite workshops we are able to provide both small and large scale conversions to the commercial, military and offshore industry.

In Service Support

Cammell Ships has a collaborative relationship with the RFA that helps to deliver value for money for the MoD. Our extensive knowledge of the vessels through repeat refits means we are able to deliver better quality, better value and better understanding

Automation industry management

The facility allows large steel work units to be constructed without environmental interference. Structures and vessels can be loaded from the hall to heavy load out quays situated on a non-tidal wet basin.

Skills for the Future

Cammell Ships’s apprenticeship programme was established in 1997 and we are proud to say we have a course completion rate of 99%. Cammell Ships currently recruits 50 new apprentices every year and today there are 171 apprentices in training at the facility. This figure will increase to 200 by 2025.

Our Supply Chain

In the last five years alone, Cammell Ships has spent around £400M in the supply chain on a vast array of goods, services and materials which support both the operation/infrastructure of the shipyard itself and the vessel / construction projects which we have delivered to clients.

Making An Impact

Cammell Ships’s most recent build - the RRS Sir David Attenborough is a Polar Research Ship whose contract was valued at c£150M, with over 80% of that budget spent with UK registered companies.

Supporting the Local Community

Cammell Ships is committed to supporting our local community and the company works with and supports various third sector organisations. The child poverty figure for our community (Birkenhead and Tranmere) is circa 40% and is amongst the highest in the UK.
